James T. Barrett
James T. Barrett has written seven full-length mystery/suspense novels over the past six years. That’s when he ended a career as an Account Executive in International Sales following a week of suffocating Florida heat, a client who died moments before joining him for breakfast, a Black Moccasin, an exploding car, a missed runway, delayed and cancelled flights, a vomiting teenager, lost luggage and digging out from a snowstorm in a short-sleeve shirt at two AM.
He interpreted that week as a timely intervention, or at least a reasonable excuse to focus on his writing.
A few years later he migrated from Montreal to the East Coast where he spends most days writing from early morning until the third or fourth call for dinner, smelling the sea air and listening to the roar of a hectic and unceasing ocean.
His plotlines revolve around multiple and believable characters from diverse backgrounds across North America, the Caribbean and Europe, braided together, each with their own compelling story. They are the people next door, anyone’s neighbour. They are the least likely victims, the weak and the innocent who must become strong and single-minded when catapulted into plausible conflicts beyond their initial grasp.
They are also the strong who grow weak, methodically undone by retribution and the will to survive, the deserving beneficiaries of what is right and just when the law doesn’t suffice or doesn’t know.
Malice versus innocence.
Excerpts from his novels can be read at: www.bestcrimewriter.com , or in their entirety at Amazon.com (Kindle). His eighth work, Deferred Prejudice, will be published in January 2012.
