Leona Trainer Literary Consultants (Leona & Jerry Trainer)

Before becoming a literary consultant, Leona Trainer worked as a successful literary agent with Transatlantic Literary Agency Inc. from 1999 to 2008. While working as a literary agent, Leona had dealings with most of the major publishers in New York and London, as well as with all the Canadian publishers.

Prior to joining TLA, Leona was president of Stoddart Kids and vice president of Stoddart and General Publishing. She also worked in sales and marketing positions at Penguin Books Canada, Bantam Canada, and Scholastic Canada.

Leona’s volunteer activities include serving for many years on the board of directors of the Children’s Book Centre, the Canadian Publishers’ Council, and the Canadian Association of Publishers Educational Representatives.

Jerry Trainer has over 30 years’ experience in the publishing industry in sales and marketing, working with Canadian, US, and UK companies such as Dell, Avon, Doubleday, New American Library, John Murray, Macmillan, and Heinemann.

He was sales and marketing manager with Books Canada Inc., a division of the Association for the Export of Canadian Books. Jerry is also a former president of the Book Publishers Professional Association.
