47 Sorrows: A Thaddeus Lewis Mystery |
The bloated corpse of a man dressed in women's clothing washes up near Thaddeus Lewis's home, bearing nothing but a green ribbon. It's "Black '47" and Irish emigrants with ship's fever flood into Canada. Lewis's son Luke volunteers in the sheds where he finds a similar green ribbon on another lifeless body. Together he and Thaddeus uncover a tale of vengeance that began in Ireland and plays out against the tragedy of starvation and disease. |
